Health & Safety Engineer
REPORTING TO:
Engineering Manager
JOB BRIEF:
To proactively support the development of the Site Safety plan to ensure the safe, compliant and efficient operation of process equipment in a pharmaceutical plant operating to IMB and FDA standards.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1.
Lead the Site safety activity and ensure that Site operations comply with legislation and best practice.
2.
Provide technical safety expertise and support to the Site safety teams and personnel.
3.
Provide the safety documentation as required by legislation and best practice.
4.
Coordinate the approach and activities for the safe handling of active materials.
5.
Ensure that items raised by the HSA are addressed and closed out. Ensure items raised in audits (TPC) are closed out.
6.
Provide safety training as required.
7.
Act as organiser and facilitator of the EHS committees.
8.
Undertake the development and writing up of safety procedures/SOP’s as required.
9.
Provide support to other safety initiatives as required.
10.
Support and maintain effective document control systems for the department.
11.
Encourage actively the culture of teamwork and integration within the Engineering Department, and most importantly with both Production and QA Departments.
12.
Adhere strictly to cGMP and other rules as laid down by the Company from time to time.
13.
Adhere to safe working practices as set out in the Safety Statement and other company safety rules.
14.
Other duties as required and directed by the Engineering Manager or other officer appointed by the Board of Directors.
Requirements:
This is a management position and involves the leading the safety activity for the site. The requirements for this role are:
1. A thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation for a pharmaceutical facility operating within Ireland/Europe. A third level qualification in health and safety is desirable.
2. Three years experience of working in a safety role within a pharmaceutical facility.
3. The ability to work on own initiative.
4. The ability lead and direct others plus the ability to work as part of a team.
5. The ability to logically solve problems.
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with good ability to produce technical reports.
7. Willingness to undertake further training in health and safety and other areas as needed.
