JOB DESCRIPTION:
Working as part of the Senior Management team within this leading Utilities provider, this is a hands-on focused role developing the strategic implementation of Safety and ensuring a strong culture of safety is maintained across the organisation through the implementation of zero tolerance safety programmes.
The role will see you conducting audits and inspections, working closely with operational staff in implementing practical solutions to improve safety procedures. You will introduce the development of communication and training strategies for staff and operational management on site, in order to develop a best practice regime under safety legislative and regulatory requirements.
Continue to promote its services, and as the Senior Safety Manager, you will also play a pivotal role in promoting our competitive advantage for Safety performance to new prospective clients and continuously promote the companies excellence in Safety.
The successful candidate will form part of the senior management team and report directly to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
• Promote the highest Safety standards in all design, construction and other company related activities
• Influence and drive a positive safety culture throughout the organisation
• Preparation and coordination of all internal and external safety assessments (ISO / OHSAS)
• Attend and provide communication of PES safety with the Senior Management team on a regular basis.
• Continuously update and improve the PES Safety processes and procedures.
• Manage and mentor a team of advisors
• Conduct and carry out audits / risk assessments of current facilities / sites
• Investigate all near misses / accidents, identify root cause and implement changes to prevent reoccurrences.
• Project Manage a number of key related projects ensuring best practice Safety model is implemented.
• Marketing of Safety competitive advantage to new prospective clients/business
Person Profile
> The successful candidate should hold a recognised Safety Qualification ( Diploma or higher) and ideally hold a degree in Engineering/Science.
> 8-10 years previous related experience in Safety and be able to demonstrate large scale projects / implementation of Safety procedures
> Be able to demonstrate the implementation safety strategies at a corporate level
> Strong project management skill set and the ability to provide strong leadership and direction to champion the safety vision
> Previous experience within Civil Construction projects and High Voltage experience would be advantageous.
> Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential
> Willingness to travel to all sites in the UK and Ireland on a regular basis.
